It’s National Roller Skating Month!
October is one of our favorite times of the year because it is National Roller Skating Month! We love roller skating, not only is it one of our favorite pastimes, but it is one of the nation’s favorite pastimes. Super Skate Club
We’re calling all families with children that are 12 years of age and younger! We know that raising children nowadays can get downright expensive. We also know that there are not always enough opportunities for physical fitness for kids. Since we’re passionate about skating, and helping to meet the needs of those in our community, we’re happy to offer the Super Skate Club!
What is the Super Skate Club?
We’re so glad you asked! The Super Skate Club is the in-house free skating program for kids 12 and under. Yes, you read that right, FREE! All you have to do for a free weekly roller skating pass for your child or children is sign them up. In return, we’ll provide you with a free skating pass for each child each week. You don’t have to print the coupons if you don’t want to, we can redeem them right off of your smart phone!
What is the catch?
There is no catch. We are simply a family owned business in Deep East Texas, and we love to be able to give back to the community and share our love of roller skating. If we can offer free roller skating to help you and your family spend time together and get exercise, then we are more than happy to do so!
What will you do with my information?
We will keep your information confidential and use it to your advantage. In keeping it confidential, we are giving you our word that we will not share it with third party vendors. No worries about having spam find its way into your inbox as a result of signing up. And by using it to your advantage, we’ll send you special Super Skate Club discounts and birthday passes just for being a member of the club!
How do I sign up?
Signing up is simple! All you have to do is visit our Super Skate Club page, choose your primary location that you prefer to roller skate at (Nacogdoches or Lufkin), and fill out your information as long as that of your children. Keep in mind that you can opt out or unsubscribe at any time!

Your Birthday Party Questions Answered
If you are planning your child’s next birthday party, then we’re sure you’ve seen your fair share of Pinterest boards filled with more ideas than you can keep track of! We know you’ve got questions, and it is our goal to help you answer those as you research options and decide where to have the best birthday party bash you can.
How much does a party cost?
We offer a range of party package options in an effort to meet individual budgets. Take a look at our specific party packages for Skate-O-Rama in Nacogdoches and at Skate Ranch in Lufkin.
Is there a deposit required?
We offer convenient online booking, and in order to secure your date there is required deposit. The deposit amount depends on the specific party package that you choose to reserve. Our Fun Skate Party at Skate-O-Rama requires a $25 deposit to reserve the date.
Are we able to change the date?
In the event of an emergency that necessitates a date change, we can change the party date 7 days prior to your party booking. Please contact our offices to determine availability of other dates.
What about party guests that don’t know how to roller skate?
Even if guests don’t know how to roller skate, they are more than welcome to give it a try. After all, everyone has got to start somewhere. One of our favorite parts in hosting birthday parties includes watching those new to skating learn a new skill and get hooked on exercise that is fun!
Do you offer private parties?
We do offer private party booking for birthdays and other events at both of our Deep East Texas rinks. Please take a look through our Private Party options, and if you don’t see a date that works for you, or if you need to book a last minute private event please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Conquer Fear and Master Basic Skating Skills
Are you one that sits on the sidelines while your friends skate? If you don’t know how to skate, we want to encourage you to lace up some rental skates and give it a try. Afterall, we’ve all heard that “Practice makes perfect,” and we agree that roller skating does take practice. It is important to pay attention to the details involved in mastering the basic skills in skating forward. With close attention to your form and a little bit of practice, it won’t be long before you’re skating like a pro at Skate Ranch in Lufkin.
Before skating forward, practice standing on your skates. A great way to balance on your skates without suddenly having your legs take off from underneath you is using the T Position. If your skates are parallel, you will tend to roll. By placing the heel of one skate next to the inside of the other skate, you will form a capital T with your feet and prevent your skates from taking you with them. This is a basic skill that is recommended from the Roller Skating Association.
Next, we wanted to share the very beginning tips from Skate Truck NYC. Their teacher recommends starting with walking on skates. This should be done with tiny steps, and it is important to note which direction your toes are facing. The skate instructor in the video linked below compares skating, and the directions your feet take you, with driving a car. Once you practice walking and the foot positions to stop and stand still, move forward, and move backward, you will be ready to practice gliding. Now that you’ve given a little thought and time to the very basics, you’ll want to practice moving forward with gliding. It is important to remember to bend your knees in this process. Take a quick look at the video below to get you skating forward with gliding:

Welcome to Labor Day weekend! We know that this is the three day weekend that so many look forward to. You’ve probably got plans that include football and the grill. Those plans sound good to us too! However, don’t forget that family time counts and sometimes it is fun to spend a little time together roller skating! Join us on Monday, September 7, for our Labor Day Stay and Play!

This year we are open on Monday, September 7 at both Skate Ranch and Skate-O-Rama. Join us from noon to 4pm for $5 roller skating admission ad $3 rentals or from 5-8pm for $3 admission and $3 rentals.
Fun with Friends and Family
We know Labor Day is a day to spend time relaxing and enjoying. After all, it is a day with no school and no work for so many. Make sure you invite your family and friends out to enjoy the day with you at Skate Ranch in Lufkin or Skate-O-Rama in Nacogdoches.
Snack Stop

Home School Skate
School’s in session for everyone, including home school students. At Skate Ranch in Lufkin, we know that home school students have the flexibility to fit in a few extra field trips here and there. For that reason, we are happy to open our rink just for the use of the Deep East Texas home school community on Friday, September 4!
Field Trip Fun
Home School Skates at Skate Ranch allow for a little field trip fun. Rolling around the rink with family and friends allows for a nice break from the books, or a chance to get some learning in action. After all, think about the physics with force and motion that are taking place when you use those roller skates!
Fitness Fun
Did you know that about 18 laps around a roller skating rink are equivalent to skating a mile? Yes! That’s right! The great news is that most people don’t even think about the exercise while roller skating, they just think about how much fun they’re having. If you are in need of meeting those physical fitness requirements for your home school requirements, we think this is a great opportunity!

End of Summer Party
The end of summer is near. While it is not the official end of summer according to the seasons or the calendar, the start of the school year marks the end of the summer in an entirely different capacity. Soon the mornings of sleeping in, days spent hanging out, and late nights will end as students across Deep East Texas prepare for their annual pilgrimage back to school. In an effort to fit in one last late night before making that back-to-school routine stick on the first day of school, Skate Ranch in Lufkin, TX is proud to offer the Starry Night Late Skate!
Starry Night
Our starry night event is meant for you! This is your opportunity to skate late into the night after the sun goes down and the stars come up. We’ll be open until midnight because just like in the fairytale, the starry night has to come to an end. Admission for this last chance summer late skate is $12. Rental skates are an additional $3.
Friends, Fun, and Food!
Bring your friends, have some fun, and enjoy free food. Yes, you read that right, free food! Free pizza slices will be included with admission until 7pm. You’ll want to get here early to get your spot in line because doors open at 6pm!
