Do you look at exercise as a burden? When running, or going to the gym, or doing that next P90x200 whatever program is not fun, consider adding roller skating into the mix of things. Roller skating is a great way to get exercise and we think it is pretty fun too! Check out these great statistics and the numbers behind what roller skating has to offer when it comes to getting and staying fit!
Calorie Burning
Check out the calories that you can burn while roller skating! One hour of roller skating equals about six hundred calories burned. If you are skating a longer or shorter amount of time, you can use this helpful calculator to figure out approximately how many calories you will burn.
Get Your Heart Pumping
The American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise at least five days a week. With roller skating, that 30 minutes can produce a heart rate of at least 148 beats per minute. We think that the beat per minute of the music might just have something to do with helping get you moving and get that ticker ticking!
Muscle Strength
In some roller skating rinks, you’ll see or hear them refer to roller skating as fun that you can feel. This is so true! If you haven’t skated for a while and you step out on the rink, you are sure to feel that your muscle groups you forgot you had are getting their workout! Roller skating works glutes, calves, arms, and ab muscles, and it builds muscle strength and endurance.
